Hi Kenneth,
I asked about bringing the Prony Brake in post #2. Then we got more snow and more is supposed to be coming. The Prony Brake is in its trailer that is parked out behind Peter k's shop. I think we will have to wait for the snow to melt before I can get it pulled out.
I am not certain the Brake can show up this weekend. We can certainly plan on belting up during Steam Up.

Kenneth
Yes sir I got caught. But in my defense, I was watching history in action along with a half a dozen other people. For those of you that weren't there, this is quite an impressive home-built traction engine, that Kenneth and his Grandpa Jim put together. I know there will be lots more pictures to follow, so I will keep this short.
Kenneth, I know you're very proud of this and you should be. Great job!:woohoo1:It will be fun to see it at Spring Steam-Up on the brake. Keep up the good work.

Kenneth is hanging around the group too much! He is just like the rest of us! :thumb:
It was very impressive to see "Old Smokey" come to life for the first time as a traction engine! Jim and Kenneth should be very proud!
I was happy to witness it as well!

No, the noise isn't coming from a shortness of grease!!!
That is what -20 degrees and bare metal on the snow sounds like. I am not sure if this or fingernails on a chalk board is worse.

Now that is impressive.:congrats: That is something to be very proud of.:thumb: I did hear a rumor that grandpa had to get a new pair of running shoes to keep up to you.:rof:

:ditto:
It sure seems louder on Louie's video! Holy crap was it cold out there! Not sure Kenneth noticed...! Everyone wanted to stay out and watch, but there were a lot of folks taking warm-up brakes in the shop! It was amazing to me that you can run steam in those kinds of temperatures. A lot of us have heard the stories of sawmills running in -20 degree weather, but I never thought I would witness an engine running in weather like that!
