LouElla was the last surviving member of the original generation of Nelson's that founded the show. LouElla was married to Leonard Nelson, who tended the ticket booth for many many years during the early years of the show. Leonard was a brother to Norman B., William A., Hartvig and Christ Nelson. LouElla was a wonderful lady.

LouElla Christine Nelson passed away peacefully on February 9, surrounded by her loving family.
LouElla was born December 15, 1909 in Maynard, MN, to Trond and Annie (Haugen) Soine. The family later moved onto a chicken farm in Iron, MN.
LouElla attended St. Cloud Teachers College for two years and taught country school in St Louis, Tansem, and Clay counties. She married Leonard Nelson of rural Hawley, MN, on September 10, 1938. They built a house on farmland in the Rollag area and had two sons and a daughter. After her youngest child went to school, LouElla resumed teaching and went to college at Moorhead State to finish her college degree. She taught remedial reading and special education and was the principal at the Hawley elementary school until she retired in 1973.
LouElla was active at Rollag Lutheran Church, where she served as organist, Sunday school teacher, and participated in various women’s activities. Leonard and LouElla were original members of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, Inc. where she worked serving meals at the Rollag Lutheran stand and cooking rommegrot in a pioneer cabin.
Leonard and LouElla enjoyed retirement in Barnesville, MN, from 1979 until Leonard passed away in 1990. In 1996, LouElla moved to Apple Valley, MN.
She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Nelson (wife DorisAnn), and Donald Nelson (wife Pamela), daughter Rachel Hollstadt (husband Dennis), sister Thelma Ross, brother Glenn Soine, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
LouElla is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, son Paul, and her brothers Tyler, Olaf, and Lloyd Soine.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation: Saturday, February 14, from 9:00 – 11:00 am in Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, Minnesota.
Funeral service: Saturday at 11:00 in Rollag Lutheran Church. Lunch will be served following the service.
Interment: Rollag Lutheran Cemetery.
