Condolences to the Aery family from the WMSTR railroad crew
Kenneth Rolland Aery
(September 6, 1913 - March 20, 2009)
Kenneth Rolland Aery, 95 of Baudette died on Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Guardian Angels Health Center in Hibbing, MN. He was born on September 6, 1913 in Hugo, Colorado to Jefferson and Karen (Myran) Aery. He moved with his family in 1920 to the Rako Community as a young boy. He attended both the Troy Creek School and the Leach School and helped on the family farm. He worked in the CC Camp in 1936 at Camp Buckboard in Bagley, MN.
Kenneth married Adeline Rennewanz in Baudette on April 24, 1943 and where they have been life time residents. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict serving for a total of seven years. Following the war Kenneth and his family returned to the Rako Community where he continued to farm, drive school bus, paint, and maintained a trapline during the winter. He was employed at the Baudette Nursing Home from 1965-75 and then at the Baudette Air Force Base from 1975-81 as a boiler operator.
Kenneth was a member of the American Legion in Baudette and a member of the Rollag Steam Thrashing Show from 1987 to the present time.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Adeline; one sister; two brothers; two grandchildren; one son-in-law and a special friend Erna.
Survivors include his children, Deloris (Robert) Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Velma (Herb) Montgomery of Keewatin, MN; Sandra Wasvick of Chisholm, MN; Gary (Joan) Aery of Baudette; Lola (Ken) Scott of Ellsworth, WI; Kerry Warzecha (Claude Minor) of Hibbing, MN; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in the Helgeson Funeral Home Chapel in Baudette. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Military honors conducted by the Baudette Veteran Ceremonial Squad.
Interment will be in the Elm Park Cemetery.
