Acording to the WMSTR web site we have 120 days till the 2009 show.

So little time and sooo much work.

1 Concrete slab for the 200 MILLER.

2 Roof structure in the small gas engine area.

3 Paint and lots of it.

If you can help on any of these projects let Keven or I know.

My plans are to be at the HILL on June 10th, would like to be there ealier but I made commitments to be other places, some things one can give up and some one can't, and family comes first.

I only mentioned projects in the Gas Engine Area but there are many projects in all parts of the grounds so if you have time and need hours this is the year.

Jim asked me to let everyone know that he is on the show grounds and he has started his roof / shelter project near the Blacksmith shop.

He will take all the help he is offered! He is there from now until the middle of July.

If you can make it to the grounds any weekend, or even during the week in this case, there will be plenty to do!

Jim wanted me to post that work has begun on the new building. He and Byron have the trees down and removed I helped with getting them limbed up. He was going to have the stumps ground this last Wed. and is getting materials lined up for the building. He is looking for lots of help with this project. He would like to get it finished before he goes back home. If you can help show up at the hill and look for Jim.

Jim has been hard at work on his building project! I stopped by today to look at his progress and take a few pictures for him.

This is looking north from near the Ad Building.

This one is looking south from right in front of the Blacksmith Shop.

And a candid shot of Jim working on salvaging some of the rafters.

These rafters came from the Threshing Machine Building that blew down a few years ago in the tornado. The ones we salvaged are not in very good shape, but can be saved with some careful work. Jim and crew are also making some new rafters (laying on barrels) to supplement the Threshing Building rafters for the project.

Jim asked me to pass along that he is still looking for a few good men to help out! He keeps good hours... doesn't start until 9 AM! He doesn't push too hard either, so if you have some time, stop by and he'll put you to work!

Hi All,

Jim is still working on the roof. This weekend he had a crew that all the purlins on the rafters.

Jim is ready for a crew to put the steel on the roof next Saturday morning. If you would rather do steel than shingles, bring your favorite screw gun with extra batteries and a charger.

Later,
Jerry Christiansen

He told me the same thing! Must want the word to get out!

I stopped by for a few minutes on Saturday Morning to see how his project was progressing, and it is really looking great!!!

The "Johnson Building" roof structure is really looking great, and will be a great addition to the gas engine area! If you get to the hill, be sure to stop by and see it!

You beat me to it frigstad! Thanks for contributing to the thread...! You guys did some outstanding work on that project! I wish I would have gotten over there to take a picture of your crew, but I got tied up on another project.

These are the two I took... A little different angle.

Looks great Ron! I agree with Rick... The structure adds a lot to the gas engine area, and I am sure it will really be appreciated to the exhibitors lucky enough to display there!

Sorry about the forum going down and messing you up! Hopefully we are getting to the bottom of the problems and things will get back to normal!

Jim Johnson is looking for help to finish the ridge row on the new building. We also plan to start on the addition to the 150 Snow Building this Saturday. We have the majority of the big peices assembled on the 200 H.P. Miller gas engine and it would be nice to get it under cover. If you are interested in helping with either of these projects look for I or jim Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. The addition is a fairly low roof so we wont need to get to high up in the world working on it.

We are also looking for some people who would interested in staining the 150 snow building supplys will be there on Saturday.

Thanks Keven

I and Jim Johnson will be doing some finishing work on the 150 Snow building addition this Thurs. Fri. Sat. If you would like to get some of your hours in for next year come give us a hand. We need to finish putting the roof tin on and inclose the end. Jim wants to head home next week and would like to get this done before he leaves.

For the most part the Johnson Brothers Gas Engine Pavilion is finished, just some trim pieces.
One thing I would like to see for this building is one or two LARGE cupolas for the roof ( most of the gas engine buildings have cupola's ) anyone have a couple they would like to donate to a good cause.

Thanks to all that came out to help, you all made a dream come true. Won't try to put down names as I don't want to miss someone but I will mention one of the groups or units at WMSTR that stepped up and that is those from the Railroad. and again thanks to all.

The 150 Snow/ 200 Miller building is pretty much complete, just some ( a lot of hinges and trim ) and paint, electrical etc.

Our regulars in the gas engine area completed it to this point.

Thanks to Keven, Byron, Carl and Karl, Brent and to the one that keeps us in line Mr Jim W.:thumb:

Anyone have a chance to take a picture of the building during the show with the new signs on?
I didnt get a chance to go to the show this year, and was hoping to see a pic posted of the building in its new glory.

I am attaching pictures of the building with the sign's these were taken after the show, Some times during the show I seem to get tooo busy to look around and the year was very busy , with all that went on.

The first photo is from the south end the second is from the north end.

For me the sign's were the frosting on the cake and made all I put into this project well worth it.:thumb:

Thanks biofueler you did well on the sign's.

Thanks! Proud to be able to contribute to such a great group of people, and the function that happens every year. Sorry I missed the show this year. Next year should be better.
Look forward to doing more signs in the future.
