here are my own thoughts for the improvment of main street and continued growing attractions that i'd like to share.
what buildings would you like to eventually see along main street? although the buildings would need to be in keeping within the time period of the general store, mercantile, school, main street house, etc.

if you could have any thing you wanted.....my thoughts are a

livery stable
small sized grain elevator
creamery house
fire station
saloon selling root beer on "tap"
sheriff's office and jail

maybe even an old western "gun fight" at high noon? (not sure if this would be within the character of the show)

the only detraction... is how many buildings should be built on the east side of main street as to not take away from the excellant viewing from the passenger train or does this matter?

i'd like to read some other comments about this.

Good suggestions. I think there are a number of buildings planned for the east side of Main Street as soon as the RR is moved, and we can afford it.

There is a lot of mortuary equipment stored on the grounds, and Warren and I hauled a lot of medical and dental equipment to the grounds this past winter, so we have a good start on a Mortuary, and a Dr. / Dental office.

I should post a thread on that...

I would like to see a Fire Station. My idea of one might be too big for main street. I like the idea of putting it where the Mt. St. Helens car used to be. 2 story with sliding pole, general history, history of local departments. A steam Fire Engine, more modern fire apparatus. Also a list of all WMSTR members that are or were Firefighters and where.

All very good ideas, Karl!
Two things I thought of would be a doctor's office and an undertaker.

We have a lot of the equipment for the undertaker and an undertaker that is ready to set it up and display it when we are ready to build it. As soon as we are financially ready to get the rails moved east we will have a lot of activity on the main street.

I am glad to hear that. It will be a really neat exhibit I am sure! Many years ago I was in a museum (don't remember where) that had an undertaker's parlor or whatever you want to call it and it was so cool - in an eery sort of way.
