During the week before the show, I traveled with the "Steam Hollow Gang" (much like the Apple Dumpling Gang, but less organized :rof:) to ND to pick up another "project." As I have not posted pictures to this forum before, bear with me as we get started. I took many photos and some video.

The day started at Jeff Knutson's "Farm." We're just about ready to leave as soon as everyone gets in the truck.

We were in the truck, in gear, when someone mentioned something we may need. It took all four of us, obviously, since all four doors are open on the truck again. I'm hoping that Gerry Parker, Mike Wahl, and Jeff Edin are ordering for us at the restaurant where we plan to meet them.

Breakfast is eaten, and we made it out to the field where the engine has been for a long time.

Our first look on this day. Our goal is to load this on Jeff's trailer and take it back to the Farm. "Piece of cake" says Mike.

maybe Mark or someone would give me some advice on posting pictures so that I don't need a magnifying glass to see them...Thanks!

This adventure actually started the week before steam school when we went out to start collecting parts for this engine. As you can see from Todd's pictures there are a lot of parts missing from this engine. Many of the missing parts were found when we were out there in June such as the front water tank, the crankshaft, the straw shoot etc. Some of the parts were actually dug up from the dirt. We used shovels to locate parts and then we would dig them up and try to figure out if they were for this engine or something else. We felt like we were on an archaeological dig!

We don't know when, or if, this engine will be restored. Jeff has a few other projects that might have to be done ahead of this engine. I am hopeful that we will restore this engine at some point as we learned a lot when we rebuilt the other engine. It would be fun to have an engine older then the 1899 engine we just got done with. This engine also has a clutch that none of us have ever seen on a Minneapolis engine.

Thanks, Tom. I was hoping you and the other guys would jump in here. Sounds like my enthusiasm for a new project wasn't as contagious as I'd hoped! :aetsch:

Anyway, here are some more looks at what we found in the field

Note the stump under the front holding this up. We will need to reinforce the front as it is badly rusted and there is not much holding the front running gear to the body. We're afraid we will pull the body off the front wheels. There's no steering chains either. Hmmm...

I've seen that red Dodge in the background before, pushing a Case out of the Oklahoma mud...:banned:

Hi Todd,
Glad to see the pics. I was in on the "dig" in June which was a lot of fun. Maybe some of the most fun was that on that day the only retired guy was off working while 5 others with regular jobs were in the field having fun! Maybe that's why we didn't see the red Dodge with that magic stiff rope around that day:hide:........PD
