Hi everyone,

I posted a video of the big De La Vergne engine on YouTube, and I have a few questions about the engine:

1. Is it a hit-or-miss engine?

2. It runs on oil; is it diesel, or something heavier?

3. What year's showbook has the write-up on this engine?

If anyone could help me answer these questions I would sure appreciate it. :thumb:

Thanks,

JL

P.S. Here's the video. I was goofing around with the speed a little, mostly because I was curious what it would look and sound like at it's full rated speed of 160 RPM - pretty scary really.

The engine is a hot head desiel engine, governed, not hit and miss. At the show it runs on #2 desiel fuel. In it's early days I would guess it ran on something heavier.

Wow JL...

I missed this post thread when you posted it! I would like to say I see everything that gets posted here, but this one got by me!

Nice job on editing the video... The big engine does command your attention running at 160 PRM! I noticed even the people walked by a little faster! :rof:

Thanks for sharing, sorry I missed it over a year ago! Thanks to the Nelsons for bumping it up to the top again!

I just can accross the post myself. I have worked on that engine several times in the past. I work next door at the 150 snow deseil which is air injected for Jim W who owns both engines.
