The Historical Society in Alexandria, MN mad a donation of old medical and dental equipment to WMSTR. This material is going to be put into storage on the grounds until a suitable building can be built on Main Street to display it. There are some really nice pieces included. Warren Oday and I went to Alexandria and met Joe Steinhagen an he helped load it all up!

Here are a couple of pictures...

First of the entire trailer load.

This is one of the nicer pieces. I am sure Doc Parker can get it up and running, and put it to use as a demonstration during the show... Any volunteers to be a paitent?

Thanks to Joe Steinhagen for arranging this for us, and to Warren for the help and the use of his truck to go get it!

Mark,
Being as you loaded it I have a feeling you know what it is. As someone who had all of his front teeth extracted with a hockey puck, I spent a lot of time sitting next to that contraption. It kind of brings back some nightmares, and one saying from the dentist. " O.K sit up and spit.

I remember the green thing... all to well! The thing I don't have a clue about is the glass thing in front of it in the last picture.

Dentistry has changed a lot over the years. Doc Parker has a computer monitor in front of the chair now, with instant pictures of my x-rays for him to look at, and a lot of other charts and stuff that I have no idea about.

Last time I was there I told him I thought maybe a good movie playing on that would be a good thing for the patients. I can't remember the exact answer I got, but it didn't sound like it was going to happen any time soon. Come to think of it... Might be a good idea if he is not watching a movie when he is drilling my teeth!

Oh, and the spit thing... Mary Ann takes care of that with mother of all suction hoses now. One time I almost lost my tongue! :biglaugh:

I don't miss those old days a bit!
