One of the great things about Rollagians is how they give of themselves for the good of the show. Wimpy Anderson is a great example of this. We had a bright sunshine filled day for Steam Up and Wimpy was concerned that mosquitoes could get to be a problem. At his own expense, Wimpy fogged the area for mosquitoes a couple times. The series of pictures shows Wimpy and his fogging equipment in action.

Getting ready. Wimpy is at the controls while the special, environmentally safe "bug juice" is applied to the fogger.

Starting to fog. The serious look on Wimpy's face shows how delicate this operation is.

The fogging equipment is near maximum operating capacity.

Full bore application! Bugs beware! After several minutes of this application, no mosquitoes were seen during the rest of the day at Steam Up. Thank you, Wimpy for a job well done.
Some folks may tell you that Wimpy may have grown older, but he certianly didn't grow up.

We did have a few engines on the Blue Brake at steam up. I need to keep a copy of the paper work. I don't remember names of some of the people.
The garden tractor below has a hydrostatic drive and is powered by a 3 - 5 Hp International Engine. (I hope I got all that right). Even with the hydrostatic drive taking some of the power away, we did measure 3.8 horsepower.

Below is the 20Hp Frick that was rebuilt over winter.

Here is a closer picture of the Frick. I bet that the next time we see this engine it will be sporting a new paint job and a canopy. Mark D. is walking over to let me knw the belt is a bit loose.

A picture of a perfect day. A blue sky with a steam plume coming from Pete M's 75Hp Case that is running the Brake. What could be better?

Good pictures of a great day! If we can only get this lucky with the weather this year at Rollag, things will be outstanding. There's nothing quite like steam events! :D

Great pix's and thanks!
What purpose do the studs play on the Prony? We are thinking about building one?
TIA

Hi Rick,
If you are talking about the pairs of studs going around the black band (the brake band), those are the ends of the carriage bolts that hold the wood blocks in place.
Perhaps we should start a new thread about building Prony Brakes.

Jerry

Ok Thanks, gotcha on a second look.
Pretty much tied up now piping the boiler to the Wachs vertical so might wait a few. I do have 8" channel, plenty of Sch. 40, 2 inch piping. shafting and belt pulley. I'm thinking maybe a Baker Fan should come first as I want to load the engine down and get the good sound:bannana:
Will purse that on a later thread.
Take care and thanks again,
RickinMt.

Jerry,
Those pictured ... are really the only STUDS involved with the prony brake aren't they!:p
