If you ever find an "easy" way you had better patent it. You will not have to work a day in your life again.:D

There are several penetrating oils that can help with time. Otherwise it is just hard work.

Just get her soaking! Don't know of any magic bullets either.

Welcome to the forum Stephan!

Stephan,
The first three rules are:
1. Soak with penatrating oil
2. Soak with more penatrating oil
3. Soak with a lot more penatrating oil

After that you can try some other things.

If the head is still on, I have heard of people breaking a sparkplug off, then welding a fitting on to the base so that a grease zerk can get screwed into the fitting. Screw your new adapter into one of the spark plug holes and pump the cylinder full of grease. The pressure may be enough to free the engine.

If you built 3 of the adaptors you could pressurize three of the cylinders at the same time. Be certain to chose three pistons that are going in the same direction!

If you only make one adaptor, chose a cylinder in which the piston is about 1/2 way down. That should provide the best leverage.

Also be certain the valves are closed, otherwise guess where the grease will go. You may have to remove or loosen rocker arms to close valves.

If the head if off, get a wood block that just fits in the cylinder and covers most of the top of the piston. Now, you can tap-tap with a hammer to free the engine.

Good luck,
Jerry Christiansen

Make sure you pull the rocker arms off and make sure the valves go all the way seated. Many a valve train has been damaged when people think their cylinders were stuck when it is only their valves stuck. You can eventually get the engine to turn by bending valve linkage if it is the valves that are stuck.

Just a thought.
