Last summer we tried something a little different on the show grounds, in an attempt to get a lot of folks on the grounds on select weekends to get a lot of work done. Major projects are planned around these weekends. It also makes it easier for people to plan trips to the grounds. With fuel as expensive as it is, you can rest assured that if you come to Rollag these weekends, there will be plenty to do!
This summers work weekends are June 2nd (this is the summer meeting weekend) and July 21st.
There is plenty to do! Be sure to watch this site for information as time approaches!
Plan your trip(s) now! Be sure to bring tools if you have some specialty you like to work on... May be easier than finding them on the grounds. If you don't know what to bring, come anyway! We'll be sure you have something to do!
If we bring a camper, where can we park it?Can the kids bring their bikes? Thanks

If you do not have a spot in worker camping, we have areas where you can park that is on a first come, first serve basis to our members. There may or may not be power available, depending on where you park. Showers are available to everyone. See one of the directors for advice on a spot when you get there.
Of course the kids can bring bikes! If they are old enough, we also encourage them to help out on a job somewhere. Painting is always a popular youth job, and it seems there is always some of that to do!

The big work weekend for July that I mentioned in the first post in this thread has been changed... or lets say that another one has been added!
July 28th has now been designated a major work weekend. There were too many directors who had other commitments for the 21st.
Now, if you have already made plans to be there on the 21st... not to worry! I will be there, and there is plenty to do! I really want to get that wood pile area cleaned up, and we have a TON of wood to cut and split!
Please be there if you can... both weekends would be great!

Sometimes I have had people ask me how I know which tools to bring to Rollag for a weekend. That is an excellent question. Usually I have some project that I have planned to work on, but I know that I will have time to do other things, too. And I never know what the other things are until I get to the Hill.
Here is the Jerry Christiansen plan for packing tools when going to Rollag:
1. Pack every tool that you know you will need for the project(s) planned.
2. Look around the garage (or shop) and pack any other tool that you maybe, might need.
3. Look around the garage (or shop) again. Pack any tool you own that you know how to use.
4. If there are still tools in the garage (or shop), pack them even if you don't know how to use them.
Sometimes a tool I packed never comes out of the pickup to be used. I would rather have that problem than to need a tool that is sitting in my garage.
Later,
Jerry Christiansen
