It's sad that things like this seem to happen from time to time... no matter where the shows are, or where equipment is stored. Someone "borrowed" the spark plug wires and coil wire off my B John Deere a few years back... in broad daylight, during the show!

At least you found out about it in time to line up new parts before you need them.

One way to help curb things like this, is to be vigilant when you are on the grounds during the summer. See someone looking over a piece of equipment, and you don't know who they are? Do they look nervous, or out of place? Go up and talk to them. Introduce yourself... find out who they are. Get license numbers if you still suspect anything... just write it down and file it away for future reference if needed. Hopefully once a would be thief is aware they are getting extra attention, they will change their plans.

That really IS sad...that some people feel they need your things more than you do. Since we are a community, and almost every one would rather treat everything like their own (with respect and care), our only defence is to work together and watch after all of the equipment like it was our own, too. If everyone is watching for ellicite behavior like that, I dont think that thieves will be as motivated to take everything they feel necessary.
