Tractor ride

What about the idea of having a tractor ride? Start at Rollag and go to Barnsville or a lake and have a picnic. Could take the highway or backroads. I have seen this on RFD and looks like fun. Go the weekend before the show or the Thursday right before show starts. You know, give the people a chance to actually drive their tractor longer than the parade. Kind of like a car cruise. Just food for thought.

I remember participating in one of these the weekend before the show in 1998(?) I think. It was the kick off for the IH Expo that year. I had just restored a friends M Farmall, and his son drove it from a nearby farm, north of the grounds to Steamer Hill. Maybe you can get in touch with Stanley or Jerry and suggest something similar for the 2008 JD Expo! :bannana:

Lee, I get the RFD channel too--we have direct tv and it is on channel 379. I think that nearly everyone who is interested in WMSTR activities should check in on this channel every once and a while. It is a channel devoted entirely to farming and the rural way of life in general. Every so often, there are antique tractor shows and tractor pulls--those are my favorite.

I wanted to bump this thread because a tractor ride and lunch some day this summer would be a lot of fun; I might be able to drive a JD tractor from work :D Even if there isn't much planning put together, maybe we could loosly organize an informal ride. Do any local people from the Rollag/Hawley area have any ideas for a tractor ride route?

Hello Cody from Bob J. will leave W Fgo at 09:00 Sat to Sabin -E to Dolores Nelsons -then to the hill--nothing formal so far -join when possible -many from Nels Nelson yard -some farther -JD feature shaping up nicely.
