View Full Version : Best way to get involved

I have attended the show a couple tijmes before, 2004, and 2005. Really enjoyed it. I'm a musician and I sat in with a bunch of people at (I think) the Blacksmith shop later in the evening.
Is that an OK thing to do? Am I supposed to be registered or a member or something? Everyone seemed very friendly, but I don't want to barge in on something.
I'm a pretty versitile guitar player/singer and know a fair amount of country, bluegrass, etc. What is the best way for someone like myself to get involved and possibly even make myself useful?

Roger! Thanks for the inquiry. I'm going to let one of our Music Co-Chairs field this question for the best answer. I can say, that I believe in order to participate in the official programs during the day and evening in the Nelson and TMB venues, you do need to become a member, but I'll just our Chairs confirm that for us.
Thanks for the post!

Welcome to the forum Roger.
We would be glad to have you as a member of our organization. See the ladies in the administration building during the show (or the weekend before) and they will get you signed up!
See you at the show!

I assume you mean join as a member of the WMSTR, which I was thinking of doing anyway. Off the subject but perhaps you know, do they open the grounds for camping on Thursday at all or do you have to wait until Friday?
Thanks for the info, perhaps I'll run into you sometime.

Roger, do you mean actually tour the showgrounds Thursday, or setup camp in the grounds?

I didn't mean to tour the grounds, just to get into the primitive camping area with a pickup camper. Probably Thursday later afternoon, or if it would be better I can wait until Friday morning.

I would suggest checking in the Administration building when you arrive.. showing up before Friday is OK, however you will need to find out where/if camping is available and then be directed to the director for the camp areas.Someone on the board correct me if I'm wrong, this was my last understanding.. When in doubt, look to the knowledge in the Admin Building!

You're right on track Tim.
Roger... just arrive at the East gate, and tell them you want visitor camping. They will get you pointed the right direction. If for some reason there is nobody there when you get in, we will track you down at sometime! :) There is a $25 charge for camping for the weekend, and you will need to get a wrist band for admittance to the grounds. This will all be handled when you register for your camping spot.
FYI... Cory Scharf is in charge of Visitor camping this year.
Thanks!
