Last weekend a crew worked on the Ortner gate. The "IN" gate will now be directed along the fence toward the print shop while the "OUT" gate will stay basically the same. There will also be a display board incorporated in the "IN" gate. This'll be a "WOW" board with cool info for visitors to oggle as they wait in line.

This pic is Peter and Pat Masley and Cara Springer. Cara is stupervisor. They're getting the posts ready.

In this one, Pat works SO hard coaxing the nails in the holes. Turned out later that they were in the wrong end, but she gets all the points for effort!

And here, Mark was nice enough to give us some help digging the holes for the post. If not for him we'd still be there digging!!

Some manual digging was needed, but they are all smiling--so far!

I'm not a carpenter, but....does that look level to you?

Ahhhh, that's getting better.

This is the last photo I have of the progress. Peter has assured me that he has more pictures of the project as Peter and Pat worked more on it Monday. So look forward to more!

Nice pictures Dawn! It was great to visit with all of you folks on Saturday. Some people don't realize that work actually goes on long after the show is over... not only during the summer months!

You know, there is a bigger auger that we took off before we came over there. :hide: I thought about that on the way home. Could have saved you some of that extra digging. I guess I should have came over and discussed things first!

Thanks for all the hard work on a great exhibit folks! I am looking forward to more pictures from the Masleys!

Actually, the holes were pretty much perfect. Just had to elongate them slightly. We're super grateful for the holes you made! That dirt is tough!

I'm looking forward to the Masley's pictures too. They finished the frame of it.

We finished the post work on Monday. This will let the posts set well over the winter and in the spring we'll add the rafters and the roofing along with the piece of plywood in the main portion of the posts for notices, train schedules and Ortner history and information on Engine 49.

I guess I forgot how to add the pictures. I'll straighten it out yet.

Wow, the place is looking awesome! You all did a fabulous job! Wish we lived closer or at least had the ability to get more time off to come and help. Can't wait too see what the finished product will look like since it's off to such a wonderful beginning.

Take care everyone!
