Gents, (and Ladies),

I know that Rollag has a couple of Buffalo Pitts engines on site, and it has always seemed to me that BP seemed to be about the most under represented engine in preservation, especially when you consider that they were a pioneer and built a lot of engines, but it seems not many survived compared with how many they built. IMHO they built a pretty sharp engine for the day, design wise, and when you compare it so some other earlier engines, it seems about as good as many other makers later sidemounts.

Any how, Pitts boiler specs are hard to come by, and I am going tomorrow with a fellow collector to look at a 15hp BP that he is working a deal on ( whens the last time YOUR state boiler inspector went with you on a Sunday afternoon to look at a traction engine??). I am curious if anyone would know the original thicknesses...some of the old catalogs from the early 1890's say they are 9/32"shells for the 13 and under. I just would like to know what the 15's may have been. This one is built prior to 1902, as it has the round spoke as opposed the flat spoke wheels.

Any Buffalo Pitts experts up there?
