Normally Mark K. is at the work days on the hill and takes photos of the workers and puts names to the faces, but he had other commitments and was unable to attend. I am not able to put names with all of them, but I took about 8 photos of the log-splitting area and have some of the names. By all means, add names to the thread for those that are without. I was not able to get over to the slab wood cutting area, but possibly someone else got photos of the crews over there.

Here Jane, Bob & Jim are getting the first log splitter going. It was a nice crisp morning with very little wind.

Vern, Kelly & Gary were getting the green conveyor up & running for more log splitters to feed.

This deluxe splitter comes from SD every year and is the splitter we try to feed all the big logs to, due to it having a hydraulic lift. This lift really saves on the back.

When the logs got big like this one, we called in the big artillery to cut them up. :biglaugh:

Casey & I think this is a friend of his, came by & helped lift a few big logs onto the splitter that Jane, Jim & Bob were operating.

Jerry is at the controls of the splitter and it looks like Klinger is checking the temperature of the hydraulic cylinder. :rof:

Would like to thank the Nelson's for the use of their shop for lunch, and all of the workers are very appreciative to whoever was in charge of the wonderful meal. Thanks! :congrats:

Thanks for the pictures Clayton! I was really missing being there, but after I saw the pictures I am not so sure! It looks COLD! I was in a nice warm living room most of the day!

In all seriousness, sorry I could not be there to help. I am told that Louie got some picture too. I hope he adds them here.

It looks like it was a productive day!

Thanks for the great pictures. It was a little cool but it was a great day! About 50+ members gathered at the hill on November 17 for the wood cutting. Those who helped came from near and far. (Canada & the Twin Cities.) Many members brought personal equipment inlcuding chainsaws, buzz saws, splitters, bobcat loaders, trailers and tractor loaders. One hundred hands connected to strong backs got a lot of work done. Thank you also to all of the ladies who prepared and served lunch at tne Nelson Shop in Rollag. A good day was had by all. Thanks to all who helped make this a very successful project.

This truly has become a big steamer hill event. I remember when we used to struggle to get a dozen people to help get the wood prepared and we would have to have a time during the show to get more prepared to finish the show.

I am impressed at how people turn out now. This is a key component of putting on the show and also saves some $$$ as the more wood available the less coal we need to burn.

I would also like to remind our members that those that like camp fires and take wood from the pile for them need to turn out and help also.

Thanks to all the participated and helped in this project because it is a “project”

I was thinking the same thing, but it is hard to tell with the "side shot."

I have never seen that saw rig there before either. Was it new this year?

I think you are right Mark. I do not remember a Wisconsin powered unit on the grounds. The last Wisconsin I remember is the log splitter at CNDSTR.
