Greetings to all, this is my first post and also a disappointing day. I have been following a Case auction and bid to win but was beat at the last second by somebody from .......Europe. This was ebay auction # 330187073046 . This seams like a great engine and I was very excited. Now I am very bummed.:( Being on the west coast makes these engines harder to find, coupled with a lot of older folks that would rather just let them rot , then let them be seen and heard. Oh well, just wanted to vent a little. Great forum and it appears to have a lot of great Americans on it with a lot of great knowledge. :)

Don't give up hope yet. I know several people who have tried to sell high-value items on Ebay, and more often than not, the deal falls through because the buyer can't pay-up. Keep checking Ebay, I bet this tractor will come up for auction again. The winning bidder has positive feedback, but check out his past purchases; the highest price he ever paid for an item is $130.00, most items were under $20.00, and now he bids over $20K for a steam tractor? Plus, I bet it'll cost at least another $10K to ship it to The Czech Republic. From my experience, these kind of deals on Ebay fall through about half to two thirds of the time, so keep your eyes peeled, and good luck.

:ditto: What JL said, although there are a lot of engines that go overseas. His feedback looks suspicious. Be wary of second chance offers though... be sure you know what you're doing before any money changes hands.

Thanks for the kind words about the forum! What part of the west coast do you live in, and have you ever been to our show? We have some very active members from Washington state.

Hello again, just for the placement , I am in Chehalis WA. right in the middle, between Seattle WA and Portland OR. I appreciate the sympathy. I will continue to follow this engine as I have talked to the owner and expressed my interest and will do that again today. I know these deals sometimes fall through, and if it does then I will be elated. Thanks again, I will be in contact.

Well VC, I wish you good luck in chasing this old engine. I watched it sell on e-bay last year for the first time...don't understand why it came back on this time. I myself hate to see one of these old workhorses go overseas...I wish you luck in keeping it here! :)

I bought my 60 HP Case "project" on e-bay earlier this year. After many months and quite a bit more $$$$$ than the initial purchase price it's gone from about 3/4 of what was left of an engine to about 90% of an engine...with some time, hopefully some pieces can start going together! With a little luck, some boiler work is going to be done soon....:praying:
