Rollag Mn (not WMSTR) was one of the subjects on History Channels show last week. I didn't catch it but they were talking about mutant canines killing dogs in the Rollag area. Supposed to look almost hyena-ish. It also happened up in Maine too. I have never heard of this before. Anybody know anything about this?

I saw the show mostly in it's entirety. The mans name was Wendell Olson and he had a dog and a colt killed by "something". A wildlife specialist set up camera traps and did not get anything on it except for deer and a huge eagle.

I know not many years ago just west of Rollag and north of Sweds there were wolves seen very often. It was interesting that at that time the DNR denied there were any wolves at all. Locals had seen them and heard them. If I remember correctly there was talk on some of the news media at that time that some of them were cross bred wolf/dog.

It will be interesting if anyone from the local group will post any information on this subject.:picture:

I watched the show and laughed a little bit. There ARE wolves in Rollag, I've seen and heard them. Also though, there are bobcats, wolverines (heard not seen), a large amount of eagles (that will definitely pick off small animals, so watch your cats). A few years back a lot of dogs were disappearing, including mine. I thought something was decided that the dogs were getting stolen at that time though. Somebody was selling them for animal testing or something. There is also an urban legend about something that kills goats and sheep and other small livestock and leaves their carcasses for show (sorry graphic). Really, the story on tv is probably just an unfortunate event because of wolves or large bobcats. My dog doesn't go into the woods alone at night and my mom has said she's heard strange noises coming from the east every once in a while, so....who knows.

Thanks Crystal,

Wolves can be worrisome at best and can scare even the boldest person when they let out a howl and it sounds like they are right next to you. At night everything looks different too. I do hope they can find a way to control them so they are not taking pets.

I was so pumped when I heard them talking about it on KFGO, cause a lot of my friends always talked about wolfdogs, going as far back as 2nd grade! There are all sorts of mysterious beasts that inhabit the dreaded "black swamp"
