I was helping a co-worker clean 3 sheds of 37yrs of collecting. One of the things he gave me was a roll of burlap which is about 9 1/2 inches in diameter with a hole for a 1 1/2 inch rod in the middle. The burlap was used in casket making when Prophetstown had a casket factory.
Besides using the burlap in some boiler-related work, is there any other use, so it does not go "bad" setting around my house?

As long as it is kept dry it should not deteriorate. I do not know what I could be used for unless you wanted to make some burlap sacks with it. How wide is the roll?

Merry Christmas Rick;
You must have been staying up late watching for Santa.
I found two lumps of coal in my stocking -- I'm searching for a steam engine.
Anyway; the width of the roll is 40". I have been told that burlap was used in older furniture to hold cotton padding up from the springs.

I wonder if it could be used in crafts for the Boutique

Jean,

I do not see why it could not be used for crafts. It may be a long term supply but that should not be a problem.

Paul,

I find myself up at all different times. When I have a day off you would think I could sleep in but it seems I have a problem with wasting any time off that I have so I end up getting out of bed earlier than on a work day. I am a big fan of God's sunrise art and do not want to miss many of them while I am around either.

Rick;
I agree with you on the sunrise art. After Charlene left to take care of a client ( home health care CNA), I just stayed up myself.
The sunset tonight was beautiful in Lyndon also.

Jean;
How many yards of that burlap would you like? I am cutting a chunk for a steam school instructor in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

I'm guessing about 5-10 yards. Check with Sandi Carstenson. She may be able to use some of it for a screen or wall covering as well. It just seems so well suited for craft projects. :)
