Here is a picture of my 1949 John Deere A tractor. I bought it at the Jerry Hanson Auction Sale in June 2006 for $575.00. The big problem is the frame is broken. I have a different one to put on. The tractor is tore down in pieces now. I might have it done for the 2008 show, but I'm not sure. If not, I'll bring my 43 Farmall H that I restored. I'm 15 and I love antique tractors!
I have a few other tractors too.
Thanks,

Hi Andy,
I am curious about the broken frame. Can you get a close-up picture of the break? Do you have any idea why the frame broke?

Hi Jerry, the frame broke because a JD no. 45 loader was used by the previous owner. In 1947, John Deere changed to a pressed steel frame, that frame was no made well and broke easily when a loader was used. That frame was not strong enough and would twist and break if there was too much strain on it. The tractor was running until that happened. The frame is totally busted up where it mounts to the tractor and the water pipe broke too. Most of the time when these frames break, people weld and reapir them, my frame is not worth repairing, there are only 2 bolts holding it on the tractor. We have a good frame off a 1948 A parts tractor that I will put on. I don't have any pics of it now because the frame is almost off the tractor now.
Thanks,
Andy.
