Not to hijack Larry's thread, but Keith Aakre was at the last board meeting and is firming up plans for this years event. Looks like plans are proceeding well, and if the weather holds we could host in excess of 5000 people!
There will have to be a lot of clean-up / fix-up before then, especially in the main street and the turn of the century farm areas.
They are asking for us to have as many exhibits going as we can. We don't expect to be able to put on a Labor Day style show for a Saturday morning in May, but if you have an exhibit you would like to show that day... be sure to let us know as soon as you can, and plan ahead!
We plan on having some steam traction engines running... Avery :bannana: and we will probably be sawing in Earl's mill. Roger say's "There's lots of logs in the lake!"
Keep an eye on this thread for more information!

Is the Montana Boiler Crew planning firing for Breakfast on the Farm? If so, we need to get the Pabst Crew organized so we can run.
We can have both Prony Brakes ready and can test engines. If people are interested in putting engines on Prony Brakes, please let us know so we can get workers organized.
If we start early, we could do a pre-sunrise Spark Show. ;)

I talked with Mark Nue today. With maintenence, inspections and Graduations , we will not be able to have steam for the exhibits for the Breakfast On The Farm. Sorry about that. Tim Moen.

Tim,
Thanks for the information. I will still keep my fingers crossed that somehow, someone can find time to make some steam. I hope others will use this thread to keep the rest of us informed about exhibits that will be running.
A question for others, have plans been made about where on the grounds the breakfast will be served?

The Food stand behind the Nelson Building and the square dance building will be the central areas for eating.
Other displays will be in the area and on main street. Further activities are in the planning stages but not firm yet. At least one of the locomotives will be operational.
It is sounding like everyone has a bad case of cabin fever that is quickly turning into spring fever. This should be a good coming out party for us for the year.
There is also going to be at least one radio station on the grounds.
The weekend of the 17th is planned as a get ready work weekend with the Memorial weekend as finish the missed items weekend.

IF the water will be on we can fire up the water wheel demonstration. We are adding a few new wooden toys to the line up for this year and it will be a good opportunity to see how they sell.

Was just wondering if any specific plans for operating exhibits for this day have been made yet. Just working on my vacation schedule for this weekend.

Nothing more Don... We will operate what we can. The water will be turned on by then, so you guys should be good to go if you want to.

We will be looking forward to the event. Anything to promote more sales and exposure is good for us.
Will be there with bells on.

The Red Brake will be ready to go. I can certainly bring the Blue Brake.
Where should the Blue Brake be set up? Shall we set it up somewhere closer to where the food will be served? (I suppose someone will suggest about 150 south of the Briden-Roen Saw Mill!!)
Ned, if you are willing to shovel coal, we could put on horsepower testing demos all morning.

We will have to get Jerry to build a prony with a double wide pully, then we can have engines facing one another. If you read in the 2002 Rollag book you will see a right up on Ed Held who by the way bought the Russell we have now.when he quit using steam to thresh ,he used two gas tractors on a single seperator. The story tells of how he modified the seperator so both tractors ran thier own belts ,one on each side of the seperator . this was due to not having a single gas tractor big enough to run the seperator by itself. They were a 22-36 McCormick and a L Case.they ran a 40 inch Minneapolis seperator. This seperator used to be run by a 35 hp minneapolis. It is a very interesting story.

Woof!! Woof!!
Woof!! Woof!!
Clayton,
Come on we can take them! maybe? Their bark is worse than their bite:biglaugh:
Oh and Clay I saw at the Nta in ohio they belted two rumleys (gas tractors) to the same dyno in I believe 2003 I think it was in E&E with one short belt and a longer one, maybe :praying: then we can win in the h.p. race!!!
Rick or Mark what does that Avery get for h.p. on the brake ????

A bad day at Rollag beats a good day a work anytime !!!

Reminder!
Breakfast on the Farm is only 3 weeks away! The spring meeting will be held the same evening (May 31.) There are a lot if issues to discuss, so please try to attend and offer your input!
As far as Breakfast on the Farm that morning, we are going to try to have a few exhibits in operation.
The Avery crew will have Jim's engine belted up to Earls Mill. Roger, Merlyn, Dave and the crew there have rounded up some nice logs to saw.
Mark is going to be sure the Merry-Go- Round is running.
Looks like Don will have some activity in the Water Wheel Wood Shop.
The General Store will be open selling WMSTR merchandise.
If any of the rest of you have an exhibit you would like to have running, and you can manage making it happen, feel free to do so!
This, along with all of the things that the Hawley Lions have planned on their end as the planners of the event. The Lions people expect up to 5000 people that morning, so the more we can promote our reunion, the better!
Come for the Breakfast on the Farm event, and stay for the spring meeting! Only 3 weeks away!!!:D

Down in the horse area we plan on doing fieldwork (digging and seeding) and we will have a little animal zoo and give wagon rides as usual.

for what it's worth, i mentioned the "breakfast on the farm" to the prairie home brewers club (which i belong). there were at least 40 members there, so word of mouth should be beneficial for the wmstr show.
oh yes, i mentioned the john deere expo.
