I don't want to scare anyone away, but just want folks to be aware...
This was issued on Thursday Morning.
...Blizzard watch in effect from Friday evening through Saturday
afternoon...
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a blizzard
watch...which is in effect from Friday evening through Saturday
afternoon.
A strong Arctic front is expected to move toward the Red River
valley Friday evening...bringing a surge of wind and cold air
with it. Northwest winds gusting to 45 to 50 mph are possible
...Which would cause near zero visibilities due to blowing
snow...especially in open country. Only an inch or so of new snow
is expected...but this along with some fresh snow already on the
ground...would likely be enough to cause ground blizzard
conditions. Mild temperatures on Friday will be replaced by
subzero readings by Saturday morning. This will result in
dangerous wind chill values...ranging from 25 below to 45 below
zero by Saturday morning.
Please pay attention to the weather forecast if you are going to travel.

I called Jim this week to see what was going on. He was smart enough to check the weather-- I was not. Sounds like I and the bunch from Erskine will not be able to attend. Shucks , was looking forward to the B.S. Tim.

Smart move Tim...
Latest update (Friday 6:00 PM)
...Blizzard watch remains in effect from midnight CST tonight
through Saturday afternoon...
A blizzard watch remains in effect from midnight CST tonight
through Saturday afternoon.
A period of moderate to heavy snowfall is expected to accompany an
Arctic cold front. Although only an inch or two of new snow is
expected...strong winds will combine with the new snow and snow on
the ground to produce hazardous travel. Ground blizzard conditions
are possible around midnight in the Red River valley. Northwest
wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph and whiteout conditions are possible.
The surge of cold air and strong winds will also result in wind
chill readings of 35 below to 50 below zero for Saturday and
Saturday night.
A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or
blowing snow with strong winds to create poor visibilities. This
can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very dangerous.

Hey.. Not so bad!!!
See you all there! :D
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory...which is in effect from 3 am to 6 PM CST
Saturday. The blizzard watch is no longer in effect.
A band of snow will move through the Red River valley after
midnight into early Saturday morning. Snow accumulations from
Grand Forks southward to Wahpeton do not appear to be as much as
previously expected with most areas picking up under an inch.
A cold front will move through the area late tonight causing wind
to shift to the northwest before dawn and increase to 25 to 35 mph
with wind gusts over 40 mph. These winds will help create blowing
snow with reduced visibilities to around one half mile in open
country Saturday. In addition...temperatures will fall below zero
on Saturday with wind chills falling to the 25 to 40 below zero
range by late in the day.

I am heading for town in a few minutes. They are saying on the local radio that they are advising no travel until later this AM. Plows in Cass and Clay county are also pulled until the visibility is better.
Better to be safe that sorry here folks! If the weather clears later this morning, maybe some of you from outside the area can make it in. Otherwise, Louie will keep us informed as to the next work weekend!

A good time is always had at these "events"! If you have never been to one, you should try to make it sometime!
Is there going to be one more Louie, or are we done for the year?
Thanks for the great pictures!
