Rick and Mark:
How many pieces of equipment does WMSTR own that is in need of some TLC. ( or does any one KNOW )
If it was known what is in need of some TLC and a person or group that would be willing to adopt may take that great step forward and adopt one of them.
I really hope that some one will make this great step and adopt the REA LINE TRUCK. Iwould like to take this project on but I feel my plate is full with no room to take on any more.
I would like to say the 8-16 international that had just been pulled out of the building and sometimes not put back for winter for many years.
When it was brought to the attention of a board member and a short list of equipment that need some TLC was put in the news letter, it was just a short period of time that some one stepped forward and it is recieving the TLC that it deserves.

Jim,
There are quite a few pieces of machinery that could use a friend. You have a good Idea and I will see what I can do about getting a list made.
Thanks,
Rick

That particular tractor is running again Jim! I can't remember the names of the guys who worked on it, but Brian Nelson will be along here eventually and fill us all in. It is well on it's way to being 100%... first class restore!

Agreed Jim. This should be discussed at a board meeting soon, and a list put together. Some folks, for various reasons, cannot have their own piece of equipment on the grounds, and an "adoption program" would be a good thing to get started!
Along these same lines, which threshing machines are owned by WMSTR?
Have a good one,
Colt

Yes the 8-16 is in the process of getting a 100% restoration. 2 fellows Dave Geirszewski and Fran (last name slips me right now) from Moorhead have taken this on as a project and they have been doing a top rate job. They took on the project last July and it was up an running at the show with a complete rebuilt front end, wheel spindles and bearing - the best was that all the parts and machining was donated by Gremada Industries in West Fargo. The front end needed the most work for a safe operation, it was in pretty rough shape. The engine is in great condition. Clarence and Miles Johnson did a fine job on that several years ago. To the best of our knowledge the 8-16 had not been driven in a parade for at least 20 years until last Falls show. 2008 show the 8-16 will sport new fenders and new paint.
Here is a picture of the 8-16 going to line up to the belt to a threshing machine on Saturday. the 8-16 did creat enough rpms to kick in the governor of the threshing machine so we couldn't use it. Dave is looking for already looking for a bigger pulley!!

I'll have to get Dave to write up a story about what he has done to the tractor so far. We'll get some better pictures posted also..

I was at Rollag in July when they picked it up, And was very happy to see that someone was taking interest in it.
Until Miles went into the rest home he would run it in the parades every year.
Then Clarence took over making sure it would start, I ran it in the parades for a couple of years. After that Clarence would see that it would start and Norman Olson was the operator and after his death it kind of just sat.
In 2006 I had a lengthly conversation with Lynette about the 8/16, a list of some of the shows treasures that need TLC was put in the news letter.
And it was nice to see the 8/16 put on a trailer going for a much needed make over.
Thanks to the ones that took this project on and for the bussiness that helped to bring tractor back to what it was years ago, or even better.
