Got this from Lynette Briden this morning...
Friends,
Early this morning, Arlen Nelson passed from this earth to his heavenly home.
Our love and prayers are with all his family who were right near his side.
Tentative plans are for a Monday funeral.
Lynette
Arlen was one of the founding members of our show, and he and his family have been very active ever since.
Please keep Arlen and the Nelson family in your prayers.
More to follow as information becomes available.

I am sorry to hear that Arlen passed away this morning. My dad would invite him over for supper in the campground a couple of times each summer and then we would sit and visit. I enjoyed these visits because he always had a few good stories to tell. I learned alot about Rollag and the surrounding area listening to him. I know dad and I will miss supper with Arlen.

I did not know Arlen very well, but visited with him for quite some time up by all of their family tractors during the Case Expo 06. It just happened that I had my Grandpa's tractor parked next to their tractors. There was a wealth of information, including Case tractors and Rollag in general. Most recently, Arlen helped us locate a large, hand pump for our water tender wagon that we are building. It was interesting, when Jane & I drove in his yard and I told him what I was looking for, he quietly said, "Follow me into the poleshed, I think I have what you are looking for." And sure enough, he was able to come up with what we needed. These are the 2 times that I was able to visit with him, and I must say, he was quite the gentleman.
Our thoughts & prayers are with his family.

Arlen was one of my favorite people at Rollag. I learned a lot about the show from him. I loved the times he would bring over his tractor saw to cut wood for the steam engines. I called it Rollags 4th sawmill. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers will be with him and his family.

The entire service was a fitting tribute to Arlen and his heart for his family, steamer hill, and of course the Case line of farm machinery.

I like the sign on the front of the Minneapolis.
God speed and good steaming, Arlen.

Thanks for posting the pictures Brian. I would have liked to be at the funeral, but my work schedule would not allow it. I am told it was a very nice service.
Again, My condolences to JoAnn, Eric, Paul and the rest of the family.

very nice pictures. I'm glad Arlen was sent up with a bit of steam. Between Arlen, Ted, and Robert, they should have a nice Reunion of engines going up there. :)
