Spring is here and work has picked up on the Ortner Gate. Last Fall, we were able to put up the basic structure and so this week, we started to frame the roof. We were able to get it framed,

The roof decking and felt paper on,

and by the end of the day,

None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for the new Flat Car that the Ortner RR acquired,

Actually, it's the base of the tender car. The Tender spent the winter in Fargo along with the engine getting some work done at Jim's shop. Hopefully, the "flat" car and tender will be reunited this Saturday. The car really saved our backs by hauling all the roof decking, etc up from the engine shed where it had been stored over the winter.
