If anyone has some time to spare, there are a few projects lined up for the weekend and week before the show

I finally purchased high temperature paint and pipe insulation to insulate the entire steam line; this should reduce steam (and hence fuel) consumption and make the building cooler during the show.
We also have floor paint, so the painted floor areas can be cleaned up, degreased, and repainted.
A barrel of Rydlyme was purchased, so the boiler will be descaled to reduce fuel consumption (the old timers said every 1/32" of scale reduces heat transfer by 30%) – this is planned for this Saturday so we have time to re-roll or plug flues if something inadvertently starts leaking after cleaning.
I’d like to fire up Thursday afternoon (the day before the show starts) to check out everything and have all of the engines (particularly the Murray) warmed up for Friday.
Don’t forget to try to recruit more engineers! The shifts got a bit thin last year, particularly in the afternoon.

I’ll be on the hill Friday night (tomorrow) and for the week until the show – Hope to see you all there!

We are looking for engineers to operate the boiler and maintain the 7 operating steam engines in the Freeport building and the lineshaft engine in the blacksmith shop during the show. We operate in 2 hour shifts from 8-4 (and sometimes 5)

Applicants for employment at the Freeport Building MUST demonstrate the ability to make engine adjustment with one hand while holding a coffee cup and dought simultaneously with the other. (we have standards)
