Water Blow Down 2012

Well... (no pun intended) it is the end of the 2012 season and the cold weather is too close for comfort.

We will be closing down the water system on steamer hill this coming weekend (October 6) and we could use your help!

Job is not too hard... just join up with one of the "regulars" and go around opening valves, pulling plugs, removing traps, and adding some anti-freeze!

Depending on how many air compressors we have running, the job will take about 4 hours. We will start at 8:30 (or when the lines thaw enough to blow out!) and finish in the early afternoon.

I will bring some barbecue for lunch... Katy's treat! I will also bring buns and pickles. If you want something to drink, you should being that. If anyone else wants to bring some chips or bars or something to share, that is OK, but do not feel obligated. Maybe we can get a pot of coffee brewed up with some of the last water available!

Any questions, shoot me a PM here please!

Will power be turned off this weekend as well?

We will start shutting off power to areas where it is not needed this weekend. My goal is to have everything shut off that is normally shut off right after the Annual Meeting.

I have gotten notes from a couple of others who are bringing food for lunch! Nobody is going to go away hungry! There will be barbecue, soup, and chili! We have plenty of hot food, but maybe if someone wants to bring some chips or a salad or something? This will all be pot luck style... no charge. We need paper plates and plastic... I think I have some. There will be no water to do dishes!

Remember... work first, then eat!

Thank you all!

I hope to make it down but it depends on beet lifting. Will the campgrounds still have power? I have not gotten down to empty fridge yet:bonk:

Power to that campground may be killed to
tomorrow. No guarantees of power anywhere at this late date.

How about power to Snob Hill was planning on staying a night next weekend. I didnt get to drain my trailer today so was planning to do it next weekend. Spent to much time helping blow water lines today.

We didn't turn anything off yesterday Keven. You will be OK next weekend. Most of the power will be shut off the week after the Annual Meeting. I did discuss this with Tom yesterday.

Thank you to all who showed up yesterday to help with this project! We did end up getting a late start because there was frozen valves everywhere! We waited too long this year. Won't make that mistake again!

In the end, we got the job done. We had a great lunch when we were (almost) finished. Thank you to all who brought food to share. It was all delicious!

Special thank you to Vern. He has been trying to organize this chaos over the years. Every year he has more and more details about what needs to be done, and where it needs to be done. All of this effort means there is less chance of missing something! We meet at the beginning of the day, and at the end to review what has been taken care of. Really helps to have everything in writing!

See you at the Annual Meeting!
