Extreme BS

Someone sent that to me a few weeks ago... I didn't even think of Jim and Jerry, but I suspect they did indeed graduate from the same school as this guy! :rof:

Hey, this is dinner conversation at Knut Lodge when the Steam Hollow Gang shows up.

Oh boy, this could start a whole chicken vs egg discussion...

Well, that would be appropriate as, when Jim and Jerry are together, there's a lot of cluckin' and cacklin' goin' on. :sorry2:

ok

I'm sure Jim and Jerry know the answer to this, but what exactly is a reversing girdle spring???:Shrugs: I'm also sure the government would buy this!

Doesn't the blue prony brake have a drawn recriprocation dinglearm?

Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately:scratching:) I got the run down on our Nebraska journey this summer! I have a feeling I might have to go to school an extra year or two to un-learn what I have learned from the Jim & Jerry show.:rof:

As you can see below the reversing girdle spring is neatly tucked inside the tightening mechanism. The unique thing about the reversing girdle spring is that when belting up if you start turning the brake backwards the spring reverses preventing the brake from exploding!

You can also see here that there is in fact a reciprocation dinglearm. This is the part of the brake that pushes on the load cell!

The need for the reversing girdle spring is a rare occurance, in the aspect of keeping the brake from exploding.
Why? Do you ask? Well, it's like this: The good ol' Rumeley tractors run too slow to cause anything to explode. Same goes with the John Deeres. Now, the Allis Chalmers run fast enough, but one has never had the stamina to keep up speed long enough to find out if the brake can explode, or not.
Now, for the steamers, the Cases might be able to blow the brake up, but the engine usually does first.
Jerry will need to do a comparison test with a Reeves, as those are noted to be able to do what Case finds impossible.

Now, to wait for the shrapnel to fly. :sorry2::sorry2::hide:
