Hello all,

There are plans to begin building some collapsible benches for the TMB building to replace many of the old and broken theater seats as well as the 2x12 & block benches. We will start the Saturday morning of Steam School with cutting the parts needed for assembly. We are looking for a few folks to help. We will be in Earl's Mill at about 9am. Please contact Roger Meyer or myself if you are able to help.

If we can get 5 folks, we should be able to work thru the project pretty well!

Thanks - Tim Dachtera

Tim,
Roger is in the hospital with a broken ankle, so he will not be there. I will try to be there and help you get started. I think I know where the patterns are, but am not guaranteeing anything! If you have a couple of guys that are experienced with the saws, we should get the parts cut out. Roger does not have the hardware ready, so ther will be no assembly this weekend.

Hi Merlyn,

Thanks for the update, I had heard of his unfortunate visit to the hospital last night. So far, I know I've got myself, Merle Myers, and a few others likely showing up. I'm certain between at least merle any myself, we'll be good with saws.

For assembly, - not an issue. I discussed this with Roger last week, and we'll have another time closer to showtime to assemble and seal the benches. I appreciate your help in Roger's absence. We'll work with what we've got!

Thanks to Dave, Merle & Sean who lent a hand on a wet Saturday morning to cut/drill the last parts for the benches. Dave got a little ambitious on Friday, so there was only a few hours of work to be done Saturday.

We'll likely have another weekend to seal and assemble the benches. Date to be determined at a later point in time. There was discussion to move the parts to the stage/dance floor in the TMB for finishing, and to ensure our nice boards don't walk off, but it was too wet/muddy to move them thru the Style Show entrance this weekend, and still too many engines in the TMB to safely get around all the tractors and to the stage.

Thanks again!

Morning rain on Saturday, messed up my loading plans in town. Thanks to all who helped! Now then...

Along with easy handling new benches.

Q. Anyone know of an older Aluminum Boat Dock which can be donated to replace the HEAVY one already in use for the cat walk during the Style Show?

This is going to be an awesome update to the TMB. Thanks Tim for organizing and everyone for the hard work!

Agreed! I help in the Nelson building every year stowing the benches after the show... (Hey, I store tractors in there!) and with 6 or 8 people we can have all of those benches folded and on the stage in about 20 minutes! Rogers design is brilliant! Fast, easy and comfortable!

I had other projects in play this past weekend so I wasn't able to help. Congrats on getting things as ready as you could. Be ready for another budget item for next year Tim! You're going to want more!

Hello again and Happy 2019!

I am working to confirm with Roger, and am hoping we will be able to cut/drill the parts for more benches for the TMB over Steam School weekend. Last year Dave did an outstanding job to do much of the work before we even got there! My hope would be to get all of the parts cut/drilled and then sent home with me so I can get a few coats of sealer on them, and assemble them the week before the show once the TMB is empty.

This should conclude the need to build more seating in the TMB, and free up a number of 2x12 planks and blocks for anything other than seating!

If you're interested in helping, let me know, or just show up. If for some reason this weekend doesn't work out, I'll post in here about it.
