Hi all,
I can't believe I got the jump on Louie and I am the first to invite everyone to the March 2015 Donut Tasting.

14 March 2015 at Larson Welding.

If you want a donut, get there early.

The Cadillac will be back to get engine oil and filter changed. Other fluids will be checked and topped off or changed as needed.

What other projects are on the agenda?

:( Gotta miss........Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy need me. No, it's not a work weekend at Knut Lodge! I'm actually going to Disney World. Have a good, productive weekend. I'll miss the Brats, Potato Salad, and good company!

Hi all,

We had a lot of good workers at the March Work Weekend. As I walked out of Jane's house to head for Jim's shop, I remembered several years that on Steam Up (the second weekend in April) that we hoped to have 60 F weather.

A crew worked on a planner that is destined to go to Earl's Mill.

A gear of the planner can be seen to Clayton's right. He was busy cleaning and un-sticking the planner.

March work weekend 004.webp

Josh was making belts for the planner. He is gettng ready to put a splice in one end of a belt.

March work weekend 006.webp

Knute worked on the project, too.

March work weekend 012.webp

More help.

Jeff is cleaning a belt tightening lever for the planner.

Clayton's Jane wasn't there to give a Clayton a hug when the project was finished, so Jennifer had to give him a hug.

Hi again,

Ned wasn't playing well with others again. He was sent to the west side of the shop to work on a smoke stack.

March work weekend 003.webp

Ned got over to the center bay of the shop for a bit.

Looks like a productive day for the most part! I spent the day in my recliner trying to recover from some kind of something I have had for 4 days! I have never had a cold / flu thing make me this miserable for this long!

Much appreciation to all who showed up and helped out!

Jerry Thanks for the pictures of the projects worked on and keep up the good work to all that come to give of there time.:yes2::usa:

Hi again,

Nick started his day getting ready to pour a new babbit bearing.
March work weekend 001.webp

Pat showed up. Hear they are discusisng the dummy shaft that will be used and how to build the dam for the babbit.

March work weekend 013.webp

I didn't get a picture of the pour. In this picture the babbit is still hot enough you wouldn't want to touch it.

March work weekend 020.webp

After some cooling time, the dummy shaft was pressed out.

March work weekend 024.webp

March work weekend 025.webp

Then it got chucked into a lathe for final fit. I believe the dummy shaft has a 3 inch diameter and the shaft is fits on is about 3.5 inches in diameter.

March work weekend 033.webp

The picture above shows the centering process in the 4 jaw chuck. I didn't get a picture of the turning process, but by the end of the day that was done.

Work was also done on some of the linkage.

Back with more.

Another crew was riviting tanks for the Port Huron. This job was started last month.

Bryan and Katelyn drilled a bunch of holes. Many of the holes were temporarily bolted to maintain alignment.

March work weekend 005.webp

Still drilling and bolting.

March work weekend 017.webp

Kelly is in the tank again.

March work weekend 031.webp

Katelyn places the hot rivet in the hole, Bryan is ready with the bucker and Kelly is inside ready to hammer the rivet.
March work weekend 035.webp

Another tank was finished by the end of the day.

More pictures to share. . .

The Cadillac came back in for an oil change and a few other minor items.

March work weekend 030.webp

Seth and Marlin are in the back ground finishing the oil change and lube. Wimpy built a new seat.

March work weekend 037.webp

Louie and Marlin are holding material on the seat while Wimpy is tacking it down. Seth and Karl are in the back ground working on the Cadillac.

March work weekend 038.webp

The Cadillac even got a new padded back rest!

Even more pictures!

While all the work was going on, Chef Jerry M was fixing dinner. On 14 March 2015 the temperature outside was high enough that Jerry had to keep the potato salad cool. Usually at this time of year he would worry about it freezing.

March work weekend 023.webp

Jerry put a bag of ice on top of each batch of potato salad and they covered it all with blankets.

Jerry tasted tested the food before he annouced that dinner was ready.

March work weekend 034.webp

Jerry is an excellent host and always serve the masses.

A few odd ball pictures to finsih up.

Below, Jim had just told Josh where to go.

March work weekend 007.webp

I am not sure what these two below are up to in this pictue. They were busy in the machine room most of the day.

March work weekend 018.webp

What do you suppose the guilty looking fellow below has on his conscience?

March work weekend 026.webp

The truth comes out. He was caught stealing a donut!

March work weekend 032.webp

Apparently he has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar (or donut box) before. He knew what do to.

Great job Jerry! Our members love pictures! Soon Jean will be recruiting you for showbook pictures!

I even saw a few folks you don't usually see at one of these work days... I am glad that more are coming to help.

I wonder if anyone fixed up the Cadillac headlamps? Looks like the rest of it is good to go! New seat? Might have to find it an indoor home going forward.

Mark,

I believe that Karl, Seth and Bryce got the lights working. I know they were getting the wires tied in safe places. Karl was talking about redoing the light protectors. That may happen after the tractor gets back to the Hill.

Josh,

Did I misread the situation? Am I guilty of tarinshing your good name and spreading rumors? ;)...
