Last year we had an issue with kids under 18 ripping by our camper in the mud til 3 am back and forth. ( it was really sloppy and loud). I was a kid and understand (still kid at 39 and still like to have fun) but at 3 am. I need to get up at 5:30 am with one hour of sleep.

Can this issue be solved nicely. There where alot of people complaining and out telling these people but still went on.

You can always dial 911. We have sherrif's department people on the grounds and that is part of their job decription. If you or others talked with these folks and they kept on doing what they shouldn't be doing, pick up the phone.

Take a look at the back side of your camping permit when you get it this year. The board is aware of this problem in certain areas of the grounds, and are taking steps to correct it. Bad behavior is not going to be tolerated on the grounds.

Thanks, might just talk to a deputy on the grounds and get a cell number of on duty deputy. Hate to call 911, State Troopers takes them calls. (off cell phone)

The Clay County Sheriff's Office puts in over 350 work hours towards the Steam Show at WMSTR. We provide 24 hour per day service, beginning Thursday evening and ending Monday afternoon. There are a lot of resources put into making sure Rollag is safe during this event. During the busiest days of the Steam Show we have more law enforcement officers on duty at Rollag than are on duty in the City of Moorhead.

I expect the deputies working at Rollag to be proactive and attempt to solve problems before they get out of hand. We rely on a partnership with citizens to bring concerns to our attention. I encourage you to call our dispatch center at (701) 451-7660 with law enforcement related complaints. If you have an emergency you should dial 911. Yes some cellular phones will go directly to the MN State Patrol, however once they learn it is not a traffic related issue on a state highway, they will transfer the call to our dispatch center.

If you wish to speak to a deputy in person, you can find one at all times at our command post. This is located on the southeast side of the show grounds next to the east gate.

Every year I have people approach me and tell me about a frustrating problem they had the night before, (partying, reckless driving, underage drinking -ect). I ask why they didn't call it in or find a deputy to help them. I always hear the same response, "well I didn't want to bother you guys." This makes it tough to address and solve these problems as we may not be able to determine who was involved after the fact.

Again, I encourage you to contact us when the problem is occurring. We want to provide the best service to WMSTR possible. We need your help to do that.

Thanks,
Lt. Steve Todd
Patrol Division Commander

Welcome to the forum Steve, and thanks for clarifying the procedure for registering a complaint. You and your team do a great job for WMSTR, not only during the show, but all year long!

See you this weekend!
