I just wanted to inform everyone that this years feature in the gas engine area is going to be oil field engines and related equipment. Rollag is home to many engines that were used in the oil industry whether they were used to drill the wells, pump the oil out of the ground or through the pipeline. There are many examples in the Otto building, Gas Engine Get Goers building as well as Western engine building, the 150 Snow building and even the Pennsylvania building. The 600 Snow and 330 Worthington were technically pumping natural gas, they would be considered part of that industry since they are pumping/compressor engines and a lot of natural gas was/is found during the exploration of oil. While this is mostly intended for internal combustion engines it should be noted that steam would be welcome as they were the early movers in the oil fields and many steam engines were converted to internal combustion with conversions made by many different companies. These engines are known as half-breeds. While Rollag has a large collection on the showgrounds there has been interest from outside collectors for quite some time for this feature. We look forward to a great showing for this feature. Contact Keven, Jeremy or myself for more information. Thanks for listening.
