Steam winch

I noticed there was something chiseled into the flywheel, so I used chalk to see what was scribed into it.
Wondering if anybody out there is related to this person and or what it all means?

Not sure if it would be the operator or owner or what.

That's very interesting. Maybe you could post the name in a chat group in Kentucky? It will be interesting to see how you display the winch. Perhaps you could fetch logs that the jammer can't reach?

Josh, the logs that can not be reached with the jammer.......... SD Jon will put his speedo on and swim out and retrieve them. The show will have to provide him with floaties for his arms for safety. This will be a new Jammer demonstration:eek:

Clayton,

How will we monitor the crowd for such an event? The shuttle wagons will have to work over time to bring the crowd. Perhaps the Railroad can stop and the folks in the cars will get a grandstand veiw.

Later,
Jerry Christiansen

Three more to go and then do the final finish milling. It is kind of sad that when it is all together you will not see any of the work that was done....
Kind of like the forklift you did! All of the complicated and most impressive work get hidden in the end.

Beautiful work Clayton!

Well I got the engine plumbed for the oiler and the steam chest drain. But I thought now would be a good time to measure the trailer that will be hauling this unit. Crap, I should of done that before I did all the welding. Well it turned out it is to wide to go through the fenders. Remember earlier when I said I decided to keep it as wide as possible for stability and stay away from the Capp stand pulley and the flywheel! Well it was 8 inches to wide, so I had to narrow it up, so I took 5 inches out from both sides. Lot more work now than if I would of measured twice instead of not measuring the trailer at all.:duh: Nothing four hours of work and it is taken care of and good to go now.

This is the plumbing that has been done and should work.

All I did Mark is cut the two inch axles with the portable band saw. you can see the stub I cut out in the photo.
Then I 100% welded them back together and put a angle iron on the bottom of them for extra strength and welded that

Ok, before anyone gets on my case about having to put a guard on the gears I am a step ahead.

Its the only material I could find in my scrap pile.
I did not like the look of galvanized steel that wasn't available back in the day so I found paint that makes it look old and rusty.
I will have to buy another can of it due to not having enough to get it completely covered.

I think it will look pretty good when I get it cover completely.
