Website question

I was just wondering why there's no photo section on the main website and I think most of the YouTube links are from nearly 10yrs ago?
I know there's a lot of pictures on the forum and on Facebook but the main website seems kinda lacking? ( Is it difficult :Shrugs: I ask honestly because I don't know)
I just know that when looking for a show I enjoy looking at their photos from years ago on their website.
I'm just asking not trying to start anything just curious
Thanks
Ned

Hi Ned,

Do you mean the Rollag.com website when you say 'main website'?

I am guilty of not posting anything there because I don't go there often and I thought posting there was limited to a few folks.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Sorry I should have stated that in my post.

I just typed in "photos" in the search criteria on the rollag. com site.
"Nothing found" was the response.

I think it would be nice to see a page showing all the covers of the past show books.
A page showing all the past shows buttons. At least this would be a start. :picture:

Please elaborate? Is it hard/impossible to have random pics of the show on Rollag.com
Not necessarily if we were to embed a feed from somewhere - facebook or flickr, by we I mean Tim ;) We have a hard time getting random photos to use, not that I don't agree with you.

I like what Dalton has been doing with their instagram account. We have an instagram that would work for this. My work has taken up my free time lately, but I could train someone to use it.

I should add, the idea of showbooks or buttons would be neat, but photo archives like this have to be sized for the web and take up a lot of space which slows down the website. I have created a poster archive on the facebook page - but this works because it lives on facebook's server. I'll see one of these days if I can share a facebook album on the website.

Tim Dachtera may have more to add. I like what you guys are thinking though. If we could get Jean to share some photos she takes every year too, that would be super.

What's wrong with here? There is a lot of history here going back to the forums inception in 2007. Lots of stored to read too. You can get lost for hours here... but it is heavily moderated so it might not be as "interesting" as in some other venues.

I was thinking if you were planning on visiting the show for the first time and typed in Rollag.com what pics would you see on the website of features or displays. We as members know of this forum but how does someone visiting the site for the first time know?
I agree there is a lot of great stories and photos. And could always use more.

New question. And again please forgive me beforehand if it's stupid or complicated.
Is there an easy way to upload a picture from your phone to the forum?

I just did this one in 30 seconds from my phone. Click on “upload a file” when you are composing your message and point it to your photos on your phone.

I have an iOS device. Not sure if it works the same on Android or Google or whatever other OS’s are out there.

FYI... Turkey was looking for hand outs at the Petro Serve in Valley City the other night.

We at one time had a pretty large photo gallery on our site... probably 7-8 years back, and the storage it took up on my host at the time, compared to the visits that the site got, (nearly none) didn't make it worth the migration to another platform when the software running it no longer was being updated and simply stopped working. Most of the photos were mine from past years I had taken.

We can certainly set up something again if folks would like to contribute. With the influence of social media (Facebook, insta, etc.) the website and forum here have become far less popular of place to post photos. I'd sure be open to finding a good place where we can collectively share our photos, as I know not everyone is on board with the "Facebook" (I wish I could NOT be)
