Trailer & Jeep repairs

Well, mother nature has been good the last few days as I have been able to get some things done on the trailer. The next few pics show what has been done to the ramp section.

I did have to warm up the metal due to the trailer being outside. To do this I used the ready heater for a half hour or so. Then I got the bottom plate welded in place.

I used the wood that will be used on the ramps to get the angle iron all plumb and into position.

Here they are all welded in place. You see the rod in the back ground? That is the release for the pin in the gooseneck.

Here the front plate is in place. This will help hold the wood in place as well as helping hold everything together.

This is roughed in but this is what it will look like when done, along with the wood being bolted down.
 
IMG_20160327_110651034.webp Well, Easter Sunday and the sun is shining. with a understanding wife she let me work out side all day. Got the jeep sand blasted, and nearly all painted. Some touch up to do and then put all the accessories back on and it will be good to hitch up:).
Then it was clean all up and go inside and have a wonderful late Easter dinner(because of me). I need two more days like this and I should make Steam Up 2016:build:

Got the goose neck blasted at about O dark thirty and then it started to snow. and ten minutes later it was white in the yard:(. I did get it moved into the shop, So I will paint it with a brush I guess:Shrugs:
 
It is kind of a pain in the - ss. I have to use the service truck and use the hoist, and that is all the further I could get it in the door.

I forgot you had that option. I hope I can get free next weekend to see this rig! Things are getting pretty hectic in the farming department with all the nice weather we have been having!

This is how you have to dry paint and or keep it from freezing. Got home from work on Monday and wanted to get a little bit more painted and then will call it quits till later this summer. It was only 42 degrees at 4:30 :(....

Went to pick up the very impressive load and all went fairly good. With me being the rookie RGN operator and a lot of help from the Meyers family we got it loaded.:woohoo1:

Hi Clayton,

That is a good looking tractor-trailer with a good looking load. What is the spread between the drivers and the jeep axle? Does that spacing increase the maximum weight you can haul?

Nothing more. It just gives me a tandem axle tractor instead of a single axle for weight. Meaning the spacing does nothing for me.
 
It was neat to see this on Saturday. Very fine looking rig you have Clayton!
 
It all went well! the only issue I had was a low tire on the trailer that I found tonight. Looks to be a nail hole.
So I guess for the 70 plus miles I put on and the first time out with it.........all is good.
