Hi all,
The Endowment Building used to be on the east side of Main Street where the Dress Shop is now located. Last summer it got moved across the street in between the Boutique and the General Store. Before the building could be moved, a very unhealthy tree needed to be removed. The picture below shows the space between the two buildings after the tree was removed. I apologize for the picture being sideways.

If you look closely, you can see a bit of the boardwalk on each end of the opening. We had to remove that section to get the tree out and the building in.

This is how the building was moved. Thank goodness for big lifting equipment.

A picture from the southside (in front of the Boutique) looking north after the Endowment Building was in place and the Boardwalk repaired. A bit of the temporary handrail by the side of the General Store can be seen.

Here is a picture looking south from in front of the Mercantile. The handrail mentioned above can be seen along with the Endowment Building.

A load of green treated lumber to start building a new Boardwalk.

The first section of the new Boardwalk. This picture was taken on Steam School Weekend. The work had been done a couple weekends before, June 6. We mostly did some thinking and planning Steam School Weekend.
Saturday, June 27 we got to work again.

Looking north from the Boutique. The first part has a slight slope, the section that lines up with the walkway to the Endowment Building is level, then the part to the gas pump has a slight slope. All slopes are NOT steep enough to be defined as ramps and thus do not require handrails. The new walkway is 6 feet wide. The area in front of the General Store is 132 feet wide.

Looking directly at the General Store. We still need to finish the area from the General Store to the Mercantile. We plan to work on that the afternoon of July 5.
More info to come,
Jerry C
